My name is Tim Atkinson. I was born in Redding, California. I was raised by my grandparents in the town of Lakeview, Oregon. In high school I ran track and cross country and spent time in band and choir. Between my junior and senior year I ran 4 miles a day during the week to become a better runner. At the end of the summer I could run four miles at a 5:50 pace. I left high school and earned my Bachelor of Sacred Music from New Hope Christian College in Eugene, Oregon. After college I moved to Missouri to pursue music. I instead found myself working at a dinner theater in the evenings and at a small Christian school where I began teaching kindergarten. After completing my third year teaching kindergarten the school sadly closed its doors. It was then that I began teaching sixth grade at Trinity Christian Academy.
I have been at TCA for twelve years. At fourty-two years of age I ran in the Firecracker 5K at the Branson Landing with an approximate time of seven minutes to a mile. Later that year I suffered a knee injury and had to spend time working to rehabilitate my knee. I have helped with track and cross country programs at TCA in the past and hope to continue in the future.
With running as one of my passions, I have been in training to represent Trinity in the local "Color Me Grape" 5K run in Hollister, Missouri. I had only been running a mile each run, but a few days later attempted two and then three...My goal is to attempt to get down to a nine minute pace.
I am a proud father of 3 children, ages 15, 11 and 6. When I am not teaching I spend time with my lovely wife Amy and the kids.
I seek to inspire others to become more active due to the amazing benefits of exercise. "Whether it be walking, jogging, bicycling, or running it is imperative that we as a nation become more active."
